Independent Learning & Homework

The amount of time a child spends on homework should increase as the pupil moves through the school. Tasks should be relevant to the work completed in class during that week.

Pupil planners should be used to record homework and its completion date.

Pupils are expected to complete homework in line with everyday class work expectations.

All pupils, should be spending time each night on reading and spelling or mental maths tasks, including tables.

For Early Years pupils, this should be 10 minutes a night.
For Year 1 and Year 2, this should be 15 minutes a night.
For all other years, this should be 20 minutes a night.
